Although Mackmyra, the best known whisky-makers in Sweden, did launch a limited release with an age statement some time ago, that was never available for general sale. Bottled at 46.1% ABV, Mackmyra Svensk Ek has a pale yellow coloring in the glass. The nose is gentle, carrying a lemon and apple scent with buttery undertones, much like a nice fruity cake. The flavor, however, takes a sharp turn into turf that is herbal and spicy. Mackmyras Gravity Distillery is well engineered, looks (and is) high tech and energy efficient. We were very pleasantly impressed that the staff are so personally dedicated to creating great whisky, showing a lot of attention to details and a lot of pride in the distillery. Mackmyra is a Swedish distillery with a cool back story.
